RFID Labels
RFID technology for jewellery and watches
A prerequisite for the function of an RFID label is that the chip and antenna, the building blocks of an RFID transponder, are sound and undamaged. Only then can the ID code be read out. RFID labels should therefore also fulfil a protective function. They must ensure that the integrated transponder is not damaged, e.g. by accidental folding of the label.
Reusable RFID labels
In plastic injection moulded labels, usually tags with integrated thread, RFID transponders are securely embedded. Such an RFID label can therefore be reused. Its transponder is deleted and rewritten. Additional individual data or a company logo are affixed as printed adhesive labels. If a representative brand seal is to be created from the plastic label, it is possible to cast a logo directly into the plastic during production.
Non-reusable RFID labels
RFID labels made of self-adhesive foil compound are only suitable for single use. Just like common self-adhesive labels, they are supplied as an endless web on rolls. The transponder is located on the adhesive rear side. Rectangular shapes or loop labels for jewellery and watches are common here. Data is written to the transponder and label simultaneously in a single process, for which a special RFID label printer is needed.
eXtra4 WrapTags as innovative RFID labels
An alternative solution represent eXtra4 WrapTags as RFID labels. WrapTags are manufactured traditionally as self-adhesive labels from foil compound. They can be provided with any colored logo. A standard label printer is sufficient for the imprint of individual data.
Once the label has been printed, it is removed from the backing paper for application and fitted by hand with a transponder on the adhesive side. Now the label has tob e folded ready for use. Thereby the surfaces of the label wrap the transponder in two layers.
Like traditional self-adhesive labels, a WrapTag is a consumable and therefore not reusable. Its additional foil cover stiffens the label and protects the transponder from damage. It can be produced economically with a specific design. Misprints when applying data cause low costs. As an RFID label, a WrapTag looks light, discreet and can be easily concealed in the presentationIndividual RFID Labels
Customer examples for RFID systeme for jewellery and watches
An individual look takes the sober touch out of RFID labels and turns them into representative brand seals. The technical tag becomes an emotional element that conveys image and value, especially for jewellery and watches in the upmarket segment.
RFID labels in the form of WrapTags receive their individual appearance as conventional self-adhesive labels directly during the production process. Both the colouring of the entire label in company colours or the printing of a representative logo - also with metallic effect - is possible. Cost-intensive tools or work steps are not necessary here.

RFID Tags
as a component of a comprehensive system
The size and shape that RFID tags must or can have depends on the RFID technology in which they are to be used: UHF technology requires different transponders than HF technology. The type of technology that can be used for an RFID solution depends on the customer-specific application factors on site. A detailed analysis of the current situation in the company of a prospective RFID customer, both organizationally and technologically, is therefore an indispensable prerequisite for the successful introduction of an RFID system.
RFID for Gemstones
Even gemstones can be organized and managed more efficiently with the help of an RFID solution. In fact, it is much easier to do this than it is with jewellery and watches, since the immediate vicinity of the stones is not likely to be affected by metal and thus a deflection of the magnetic fields on which RFID technology is based. Special RFID labels are not necessary here because the transponder is inserted directly into the plastic boxes customary in the industry. The stone bed made of foam material fixes the transponder securely and legibly on the floor inside the box.Interested parties can find out how RFID makes gemstones more manageable from the experts at eXtra4. Threads with the security plus
For the attachment of RFID labels without already integrated thread, we recommend security threads from our range. They consist of a tear-resistant synthetic fibre cord with welded closing elements. Once connected, the closure elements cannot be separated again. The thread cannot be opened, but must be cut to remove the label.
