Branded labels with loop in production
The most popular label shape for customised jewellery labelling
Labels with a loop for attachment are the most popular when it comes to maximum flexibility in labelling jewellery and watches: like a thread, the loop fixes the label simply and securely to the various types of jewellery. If the loop is held non-adhesively, the label, although self-adhesive, remains freely movable when applied.
If this label shape with large dimensions is to be custom-printed for production, a machine with a flexographic printing unit is often used. Here, both die-cutting and printing are rotary and therefore faster, which proves to be cost-effective for large quantities.
The three printing units produce water-based images in up to three colours. They can also be coated with a laminate. This gives the porous and therefore matt base material protection and a glossy look.
Thanks to his many years of experience, Adnan Musa routinely manages the processes of the flexographic printing line with all its possibilities. His range of applications extends beyond die-cutting and printing and also includes finishing ready-to-use label rolls on the converter.
Longer lifetime for label printers
Video tutorial on correct cleaning and care
of thermal transfer printers
With thermal transfer label printers, constant use causes dirt particles and deposits to build up, which can affect printing precision and even permanently damage the device.
Users are therefore well advised to check critical areas regularly and clean them with suitable products if necessary.
The video illustrates where and how label printer owners can apply appropriate cleaning and care products from the eXtra4 range to keep their devices running with precision and give them a long service life

More precision with reel core adapters
Video tutorial on printer accessories at
incompatibility of roll holder and label roll
Reel core adapters improve the precision of a thermal transfer printer's printing performance when the roll holder and label roll are not sized to match each other.
Each adapter has two different sides, one with the diameter of the reel core (1.5 inch/38 mm), one with that of the holder - 1 inch (25.4 mm) and 0.5 inch (12.7 mm) respectively. When the roll is changed, the adapters are inserted as reduction cores on each side of the label roll to compensate for the differences. Now the roll rotates axially, the web tension remains constant, and the print can be positioned accurately.

Guard Labels - More security
due to evidential pattern effect
Non-re-positionable labels with tamper proofing
PRIME-Guard labels are based on self-destructing material, the security effect of which not only prevents fraudulent reapplication of labels to goods that have already been used, but also provides unmistakable evidence of attempted tampering.
When a PRIME-Guard label is applied, the white permanent adhesive bonds between the transparent label areas to form an almost opaque layer. The label can therefore be well marked on the front and rear side by thermal transfer printer.
An attempt to separate again the firmly adhering adhesive surfaces of the label once closed causes the adhesive film to tear in a defined structure. The label areas show a transparent triangle pattern. It cannot be revised, not even by fitting the separated surfaces together exactly. This makes every manipulation attempt obvious and verifiable.
Ripping of the adhesive layer reduces the adhesive force, so that the label cannot be reliably reapplied, but remains permanently and immediately recognizably damaged.

Guard Labels - Security labels
based on self-destructing material
Non-re-positionable labels made of split foil compound
Guard Labels based on Destruct material with a split effect act as a preventive measure against fraudulent reapplication of labels once removed to goods that have already been used.
When first attached, the permanent adhesive bonds the adherent label surfaces so tightly that an attempt to reopen the label will split the material into layers. The split label areas are unglued, so they do not stick and cannot be rejoined immediately. The label cannot be easily reapplied but is permanently damaged.
In combination with an appropriate warning in clear words, Guard Labels made of split material can be used preventively especially against returns fraud in e-commerce, i.e. stop the pretence of the original condition of goods already used by reattaching labels with the aim of getting refunded the purchase price.
The imprint of an individual company logo turns Guard Labels as functional security labels into real brand seals that guarantee pristine original goods.

WrapTag - the next generation hangtag
Innovative labels with thread for marking via thermal transfer printer
The self-adhesive label has 4 sections - two opaque fields for data from the thermal transfer printer or professional logo printing in corporate design and two transparent ones that protectively cover the imprint as a laminate when the label is folded. WrapTags withstand treatment in the polishing tumbler without damage. They do not have to be removed and reattached to the matching piece, but can remain on the jewellery.
Due to the attachment by thread, WrapTags are suitable for virtually any type of jewellery. Pre-knotted threads are recommended, as offered by eXtra4 in many colours on paper rolls for tearing off and looping in. More convenience is provided by security threads for application by hand or via tagging gun.
WrapTags are a patented development by eXtra4 Labelling Systems for labelling jewellery and watches.
WrapTags - high-end labels in use for watches
Patented label solution for higher demands
When folding a WrapTag, two transparent label layers enclose the labelling areas previously imprinted - pre-printed logo in corporate colour, individual product data via thermal transfer printer. The label is virtually wrapped into its own protective shell. Covered with a robust film layer, texts and barcodes are safe from mechanical and chemical influences.
WrapTags as hang tags offer additional security during application. They can be applied on either manually by using textile threads with a safety lock or in a semi-automatic way by using a tagging gun.
WrapTags are a patented invention by eXtra4 Labelling Systems for labelling jewellery and watches with superior security requirements.
Complex label combinations - a challenge for production
Seven different labels combined into a block that can be marked together
Label combinations group two or more labels of different shapes into a label block so that all labels can be printed together by thermal transfer printer in a single print job with different data. The challenge with the present label combination lies in the variety: both opaque white and transparent labels; both fully adhesive and with a glue-free zone; both with foldable perforations and with holes punched through the liner that cover each other symmetrically when folded.
A common frame bundles all the labels into a block and holds them on the liner so that the thermal transfer printer can print them accurately. After printing, it must be possible to remove the frame cleanly so that the user can take the labels off the web individually and apply them.
This combination label is produced on the most variable and largest machine in eXtra4 production under the expert supervision of eXtra4 screen printing specialist Wolfgang Wochele.
Label printers - service for more sustainability
Repair and maintenance as a contemporary option
Technical service has been part of the service range offered by eXtra4 Labelling Systems for over 30 years. If a device malfunction cannot be remedied remotely online or by telephone, the eXtra4 support requests affected persons to send in their printer. In the company, the faulty thermal transfer printer is checked for reparability. The technicians draw on decades of experience and have access to an in-house spare parts warehouse.
The inspection of a thermal transfer printer also includes the thorough cleaning of all functionally relevant parts. General overhaul and repair are often possible at a fraction of the cost that would be spent on an equivalent new device.

Guard Labels with black light sensitive logo print
Security labels for discreet protection against label faking
Logo printing is done with black light sensitive colour and can be applied to any label. It is preferably recommended in combination with other safety factors, such as self-destructing material. Other print designs are also possible.
The imprint is not visible to the human eye under normal lighting conditions. Only deliberate inspection under a black light lamp makes it visible. In the thermal transfer printer, black light-sensitive imprints can be easily overprinted so that not a millimetre of scarce label space is lost for sales-related data. The print design remains concealed until its effect is deliberately activated to expose label fraud.
A sophisticated label solution, part 1: production
High-quality logo label as a wrapper for plain carrier
The label solution shown here consists of two independently produced label parts: the carrier label is equipped with a loop and used for attachment to the jewellery. It is made separately from simple material. Shown here is the production of the wrapper: The label is made of high-quality foil compound and printed with a logo using UV-cured letterpress printing. A laminate is applied to protect the print, which also gives it a high-gloss look. At the same time, the extremely smooth surface offers the best adhesion properties for product data that is later printed on site by the customer in the thermal transfer printer.By separating the data carrier and attachment element into two label parts, labelling can be carried out in separate steps with a temporal and spatial offset.
A sophisticated label solution, part 2: application
A label with loop as carrier for a high-quality logo label
Labelling with the solution shown can be carried out in two separate steps: The carrier label requires precision and time due to the attachment by loop. This step can therefore be taken where working time has little cost. Since no product data is applied, this is possible long before product details and price are fixed. Thanks to its label shape with perforation, the application of the high-quality wrapper with logo is done quickly and requires no special care. So this step can even be taken over by sales staff at the POS. For data printing, this means that it can be delayed until shortly before the goods are dispatched, provided that current prices or details are not known until then.
Jeweller’s labelling-quality: Single label printing
Printing a single label without losing the label feed
All thermal transfer label printers provided by eXtra4 master the precise back transport of the label feed after each printing process. So if you want to print a single label, you really only consume this one label. Not every thermal transfer printer fulfils this criterion. And certainly not for such complex labels with large material thickness, as is usual for marking jewellery and watches. Therefore, this capability decides whether a label printer is accepted into the eXtra4 product range.
