Inkjet printer / label printer with inkjet process
An inkjet printer produces a hair-thin print image with ink drops in pixel size. That's why inkjet printers are widely used in all industries, both for direct marking of products and for label printing.
However, this often results in monochrome, mostly black, low-resolution printing with little demand on durability and appearance, as long as legibility is guaranteed. Commercially available inkjet printers for monochrome printing on conventional labels are therefore not suitable for marking jewellery and watches.
High-resolution inkjet printers with 4-colour capability, on the other hand, are a real option for the demands of the jewellery and watch industry. However, they are only suitable when label material is used that allows ink droplets to drip from the surface into the label. Only then is the print smudge and scratch resistant. Even the influence of moisture and UV radiation is no longer detrimental. Ultrasound resistance can also be achieved.

Exclusive 4C Inkjet Printer Solution
We do not stock conventional inkjet printers for single-colour printing only of labels of average quality. They can hardly meet the requirements in the jewellery and watch segment.
We recommend inkjet printers as an exclusive solution for demanding users: devices for 4-colour printing with high resolution produce photo quality at an increasingly attractive price-performance ratio. In combination with special material suitable for inkjet, labels with colour motifs such as logos or photos can be produced just-in-time, even in very small print runs. Selected inkjet printers with 4C capability can be found in our printer portfolio.
Thermo-Drucker / Etikettendrucker mit Thermo-Verfahren
Der Thermo- Drucker - auch Thermodirekt-Drucker genannt - benötigt kein Farbband. Er arbeitet mit thermosensitivem Material. Die Farbe ist bereits in die Material-Oberfläche integriert und wird durch Erhitzen aktiviert, d.h. sichtbar.
Die Hitzeempfindlichkeit von Thermo-Etiketten schränkt jedoch ihre Haltbarkeit entscheidend ein. Bereits Sonneneinstrahlung oder mechanische Reibung können das Druckbild beeinträchtigen und unleserlich machen.
Thermo-Drucker werden deshalb bevorzugt dort eingesetzt, wo eine lange Lebensdauer der Etiketten nicht notwendig ist, einfache Bedienung und niedere Kosten hingegen entscheidend. Thermo-Drucker sind für Schmuck-Etiketten deshalb meist ungeeignet, für Versand-Etiketten oder Etiketten im Bereich der internen Logistik jedoch eine kostengünstige Lösung.

Auch wenn Thermo-Drucker für die Erstellung von Etiketten für Schmuck und Uhren eher selten verwendet werden, so erfreuen sie sich bei Anwendern für Etiketten jeder anderen Art großer Beliebtheit. Entsprechend stehen Thermo-Drucker am Markt in großer Bandbreite zur Verfügung: in unterschiedlichen Baugrößen, Materialbreiten und Druckgeschwindigkeiten.
Obwohl wir Thermo-Drucker für Schmucketiketten nicht empfehlen, führen wir deshalb dennoch einige ausgewählte Modelle in unserem Sortiment.

Label printing based on jewellers' quality standards
A thermal transfer printer transfers the color pigments from a transfer foil to the label material through pixel-fine heating elements in the print head. This results in labels with a sharp print image even with the smallest font size. If the label material and carbon ribbon are ideally matched, the print is even UV-resistant and ultrasonic-proof. Thermal transfer printers are therefore optimal for meeting the requirements of label printing in the jewellery and watchmaking sectors.For beginners affordable in a package
For buyers of a thermal transfer printer, eXtra4 offers a package solution for an affordable start in label printing. You have the opportunity to receive a starter package at reduced costs when purchasing a thermal transfer printer of any size.The starter package consists of a license for the label printing software eXtra4<winIII> for edition "Basic", a roll of black carbon ribbon suitable for the respective printer and a roll of labels. Equipped with ribbons in scratch-resistant resin based quality, thermal transfer printers are the ideal solution for marking jewellery labels, but as well labels of all kinds with a particular long service life.Thermal transfer printers in different size classes are available on the market to meet the needs of different users. They are geared to the annual demand for printed labels and are designed accordingly for small, standard, medium-sized and very large quantities.

Slim Thermal Transfer Printers
for annual quantities starting from 1,000 labels
Label printers of the slimLINE class are desktop thermal transfer printers of small dimensions with a slim footprint and a web width of only 60 mm. They take up very little space and are designed for work environments where space is extremely limited. Despite their small format, they have mechanical and electronic quality of large ones. slimLINE label printers are therefore ideal for small annual requirements of approx. 1,000 labels and less. For a start in label printing, we recommend our Starter Kit for beginners.
Desktop printers / standard sized printers
Thermal transfer printers for annual quantities of up to 50,000 labels
Label printers of the Desktop class are small thermal transfer printers designed for work environments where space is at a premium. Mechanically and electronically solid in construction, the devices are ideally suited for the average annual requirement of a jeweller of approx. 5,000 labels.The more labels are printed, the more frequently carbon ribbon and label roll have to be changed, which costs time and effort. We therefore recommend larger thermal transfer printers from approx. 50,000 labels upwards.
Midrange Printers - medium label printers
Thermal transfer printers for annual quantities of 100,000 labels or more
Midrange label printers are a mix of desktop model and industry class. They have the characteristics of a high quality industrial printer, but take up little space. With room for large rolls of labels and carbon ribbon, plus mechanical stability and increased print speed, MidRange thermal transfer printers are ideal for work environments where space is at a premium but print volumes are increased.
Industrial printers - Label printers for high loads
Thermal transfer printers for annual quantities of 500,000 labels or more
The Maxi class of thermal transfer printers is designed for industrial requirements: tough conditions and high throughput. They have a rugged mechanical and electronic design.
In order to avoid frequent interruptions of the printing process due to roll changes, industrial printers have space for large rolls of labels and carbon ribbon. This makes industrial printers the ideal thermal transfer printers for printing labels in long runs.

Jewellery labels as a challenge for label printers
Not every label printer prints jewellery labels. With their often unusual shapes and small dimensions, labels for jewellery and watches demand a lot from label printers. Printing demands maximum precision. Not only the print image itself, but also the positioning of the print on the label is decisive. Deviations greater than 0.5 millimeters are not acceptable.
Single print without label loss
Label users who rely on our selected range of label printers can be assured that these devices will work reliably with our labels. This also applies when only single labels are printed. We make sure that the transport of the label web in the printer is so precise that even if only one label is printed, usually no labels are wasted due to unnecessary feed or imprecise return.
